Shooting at Law Office in Greenwood

The Associated Press reports that a 70 year old oncologist, Dr. Arnold Smith, of Greenwood and 54 year old William Paul Muller, from Morgan City, Louisiana, are being held without bond on a charge of conspiracy to commit murder.

It appears the target of the attempted murder was Greenwood attorney, Albert Lee Abraham Jr., who had represented the former spouse of Dr. Smith in the 90’s and possibly the former spouse of Mr. Muller as well.  Attorney Abraham was talking to agents from the State Attorney General’s Office Saturday night when 23 year old Keaira Byrd and 25 year old Derrick Lacy entered Abraham’s law office and shots were fired.

County Coroner Debra Sanders said Keaira Byrd was killed at the scene. He was shot in the head and other locations. Derrick Lacy was also shot as was one of the agents from the Attorney General’s Office.  The agent’s name has not been released.

According to Greenwood Mayor Carolyn McAdams, attorney Abraham was not injured. The alleged conspiracy and the shooting are still being investigated.
